My Motto: Always Keep Learning
I am always tackling challenges head-on through my curiosity. Here are a few examples:
1. When a new program opened my senior year of high school to take college-level graphic design courses I was among the first to sign up. I aced my 18 credits where I learned the basics of the Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.)
2. I graduated High School on a Thursday, and by the next Monday, I was starting a graphic design internship with Gift Works Plus. During those 8 months of part-time work, I learned the CorelDraw software and designed over 300 customized products. In addition to technical skills, I also learned soft skills like effective communication, meeting deadlines, and working as a design team. This industry experience shaped me into the professional designer I am today.
3. I decided to continue my Associate's Degree in Graphic Design at Waukesha County Technical College. After taking my Web Design I class, I wanted to learn more about UI & UX design, so I added the Web Design Certificate to my education.
4. In December of 2023, I started my freelance graphic design business, Blu Rose Design. I offer brand, graphic, and website design services to health and wellness businesses. I have not only learned design skills such as brand strategy, logo design, color scheme, type styling, iconography, and creating brand guidelines, but also many business skills. I learned the value of project proposals, contracts, invoices, sales, file structure, and an organized client process.
5. While taking the Web Design Certificate, I fell in love with User Interface Design. I learned how to design wireframing & prototyping, a mobile-first approach, creating mockups in Figma, and web languages like HTML, CSS, and PHP. My design style focuses on a clean, modern layout and is based on a strategic, problem-solving approach. I am always striving to learn new design trends and tools (like AI) to be more efficient and continue innovating.
